Job Details Job Location : Chicago High School for the Arts - Chicago, IL Salary Range : Undisclosed Description English Academic Teacher for the 2025-2026 School Year The Chicago High School for the Arts is now accepting applications for a licensed English Teacher. About ChiArts: ChiArts develops the next generation of artistically gifted, diverse scholar-artists through rigorous, pre-professional arts training combined with a comprehensive college preparatory curriculum. Position Summary: We are seeking a passionate and skilled English Teacher who is dedicated to providing an engaging, college-preparatory education that challenges students to achieve at high levels. The ideal candidate will foster a love for literature, writing, and critical thinking while differentiating instruction, designing data-driven lesson plans, and integrating technology into the learning experience. Qualifications Key Responsibilities: Instruction & Student Engagement Develop and implement dynamic, student-centered lessons that promote critical reading, writing, and analytical skills. Foster a classroom culture that encourages discussion, creativity, and intellectual curiosity. Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs and ensure equitable access to rigorous content. Utilize a variety of assessment tools to measure student progress and inform instructional decisions. Prepare students for success in ChiArts’ curriculum and standardized assessments. Collaboration & Professional Development Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement best practices that align with ChiArts' unique instructional approach. Actively participate in faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school-wide initiatives. Engage with artistic faculty to support students’ overall academic and artistic success. Maintain regular communication with students, families, and staff to support student progress and well-being. School & Community Engagement Implement trauma-informed, restorative justice, and anti-racist practices in the classroom. Serve as a student advisor and provide mentorship to help students navigate academic and personal challenges. Participate in school events, parent conferences, open houses, and other community-building activities. Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and engagement. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Illinois teaching certification with appropriate content endorsement(s). Experience with curriculum development and backward design planning preferred. Strong understanding of educational technology and its integration into the classroom. Passion for arts education and commitment to ChiArts’ mission. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse students and staff in a fast-paced, innovative environment. Salary & Benefits: Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000 (based on experience and qualifications).
