Job Title: Chemist
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Chemist to join our team. This role involves general wet chemistry lab testing, including tasks such as pipetting, measuring viscosity, testing pH, and determining boiling points. The successful candidate will work extensively on clear coats involving spray paints, with full PPE provided. Training will be offered on various instruments, including automatic pipetting machines, Gas Chromatography, and IR spectrometers. The overnight team divides work into 60% testing and 40% documentation, with individual work varying by shift.
Responsibilities
Conduct routine testing and approval of chemical blends.
Perform incoming, intermediate, and final chemical inspections of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods.
Document test results, statuses, and chemical non-conformances.
Maintain quality records and verify raw materials, in-process materials, and finished goods against established specifications.
Generate certificates of analysis and conduct USP testing and documentation when applicable.
Inspect USP containers and tankers, gauge, sample, and document incoming ethanol shipments.
Perform quality jobs as required for backup or peak loads.
Essential Skills
Ability to quickly pick up on chemistry testing and maintain quality at a fast pace.
Capability to learn quickly and work with minimal supervision while following SOPs.
Time management skills and the ability to set an individual agenda for testing after training.
Proficiency in collaborating and communicating with team members and supervisors.
Possession of a BS/BA degree in Chemistry or a related science field.
Proficiency in wet chemistry skills from school or on-the-job experience.
Understanding of modern quality principles and industrial quality practices is preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Basic PC skills including typing and filing.
Experience with Windows and Microsoft Office is a plus.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
A degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related science field.
Experience in quality control and wet chemistry.
Work Environment
The position is within a modern and up-to-date lab at a chemical manufacturing facility. The team includes 2 supervisors and 3-5 other chemists. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.75 - $21.75/hr.
