Job Description

The Cyber Security Engineer will be responsible for architecture design, incident response and accountable for ensuring compliance with CHM policy while safeguarding the organization's digital assets and information. This position involves designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security solutions to protect against cyber threats. This position also stays vigilant and continues education in the Cyber Security area to learn about any emerging threats. The Cyber Security Engineer works closely with other IT professionals, management, and stakeholders to develop and enforce security procedures and practices.

Responsibilities

Security Architecture

• Collaborate with departments to help design secure networks and systems.
• Evaluate and recommend security technologies, tools, and methodologies.
• Work with subject matter experts throughout CHM to make sure third-party solutions align with CHM cyber security best practices.

Incident Response

• Participate in the development and implementation of incident response plans and procedures.
• Analyze findings from incidents to improve strategy to mitigate next incident.

Security Compliance

• Ensure compliance with CHM best practices, regulations, and legal requirements.
• Conduct regular internal security audits to prepare for audits by CHM partners.

Risk Mitigation

• Identify and assess potential security risks and vulnerabilities.
• Participate in development of and implement risk mitigation strategies.
• Keep up to date with emerging trends to identify possible risks.

Collaboration

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security into the development lifecycle.
• Provide guidance and support to IT and development teams on security best practices.
• Collaborate with change advisory board in CHM change management process.

Documentation

• Create and maintain appropriate documentation on cyber related functions, using external sources to accelerate delivery.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with cloud security (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Knowledge of penetration testing and vulnerability assessment tools.
• Familiarity with security automation and scripting.

Education Desired

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or relevant experience
• Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Proficient in security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, antivirus, and endpoint protection.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols, operating systems, and application security.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
