Mount Airy, NC Order: 183698 Order Type : Direct Hire Job Summary:This role focuses on troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing printed circuit boards (PCBs) to the component level for a wide range of industrial electronic equipment. Devices include AC/DC drives, variable frequency drives (VFDs), power supplies, PLCs, HMIs, I/O modules, relays, and more. The technician performs detailed functional testing and makes final adjustments to ensure equipment is fully operational.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Troubleshoot and repair PCBs and industrial electronics to the component level.Solder and desolder surface mount and through-hole components.Use diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and other specialized equipment to identify faults and validate repairs.Interpret schematics, technical manuals, engineering instructions, and customer specifications.Document repair progress and actions taken in designated systems.Collaborate with engineering and other technicians for complex repairs or escalations.Follow OSHA and company safety protocols at all times.Maintain required documentation and records of performance, tests, and maintenance activities.Communicate unit status with departments such as Engineering, Purchasing, Sales, Logistics, and IT.Maintain a clean and organized work area.Perform additional duties as directed by leadership.Supervisory Responsibilities:NoneQualifications:Education & Experience:Associate degree in electronics or technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.4-8 years of experience in industrial electronics repair.Proficient with tools such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, IC programmers, test fixtures, and similar equipment.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Strong understanding of electronic and mechanical principles.Ability to troubleshoot electronic components without full schematics or procedures.Skilled in precision soldering/desoldering for small-scale components.Proficient in reading and interpreting schematics, diagrams, and data sheets.Capable of identifying and cross-referencing electronic parts.Able to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.Works independently with a focus on productivity and quality standards.Strong communication skills with ability to collaborate across departments.Physical Demands:Frequent standing at workstations; frequent bending, walking, and stooping.Lifting 35-50 lbs occasionally without assistance.High level of fine motor control required for small and delicate components.Frequent use of hand tools (e.g., pliers, screwdrivers).Occasional computer work.Regular attendance with occasional off-shift work required.Minimal travel (less than 5%).Work Environment:Clean, quiet, climate-controlled workspace with minimal noise.Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.
