Job Title: Library Assistant Department: Stark County Law Library Reports To: Library Director Job Type: Full-Time (40 hours/week) Compensation: $14–$16/hour, based on qualifications and experience Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm POSITION OVERVIEW Are you passionate about connecting people to information and promoting the value of library services? The Stark County Law Library is seeking a proactive Library Assistant to support both day-to-day library operations and outreach efforts. This role requires strong customer service orientation, excellent communication skills, comfort with digital tools, and the ability to juggle multiple responsibilities in a small, collaborative setting. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Patron Assistance and Customer Service Serve as point of contact for patrons, offering guidance on library resources and services. Perform advanced searches in the library’s databases and online catalog to assist patrons. Handle circulation tasks: checkouts, returns, payments, registering new patrons, updating membership data, printing bills, answering phones, responding to email inquiries and generating usage statistics. Manage membership records by entering new information and processing payments. Ensure the library remains well‑stocked and orderly. Marketing & Outreach Create engaging content for social media campaigns to promote library resources to Stark County and the broader legal community. Produce and distribute the monthly library newsletter (print and digital), ensuring engaging content and professional layout. Collaborate on marketing strategies, materials, and outreach efforts. Perform other tasks assigned by the Director to support overall library operations and outreach efforts. QUALIFICATIONS Preferred Library experience with emphasis on customer service. Familiarity with digital marketing tools (Constant Contact, Canva, etc.). Social media management skills and website maintenance experience. Required Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate effectively in a small team. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity or willingness to learn legal research and marketing tools and library systems.
