Description Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises Employment Services ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Associate Director of Operations, the Office Support (Mailroom) ensures proper and secure handling of mail and package distribution for the University Village students and office. This position is designed to provide opportunities to staff to hone customer service skills, technical skills, flexibility and versatility, team development, and foster professional growth.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is only a small sampling of work variety): The main responsibility of a mailroom clerk is to sort incoming interoffice mail and distribute it to students and employees within the Village office departments. The mailroom clerk is expected to fulfill the following responsibilities, in addition to other duties that may be assigned:
- Coordinate all operations of the mailroom.
- Verify/process all mail and packages.
- Distribute mail accordingly to residents and all live on staff in a timely manner.
- Forward mail and return mail/packages for all history residents.
- Maintain daily/monthly/yearly package logs.
- Maintain overfilled mailboxes and packages not picked up.
- Forward history resident mail for 30 days after move out.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the mailroom and all mailboxes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- 1-2 year experience in clerical preferred
- Must possess the ability to work well with staff at all levels within a diverse, multi-cultural, collaborative environment.
- Experience with multi-tasking, meeting deadlines, and ability to adapt when priorities change.

ABOUT US : As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Foundation offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year. The Foundation offers positions in various fields; whether it is in the area of technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality management, leadership or research grants, these student employees participate in Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy and acquire practical skills in their designated field of study.
