Position Reports To: Service Center Manager

Role Overview

This position is responsible for rewinding standard and custom AC and DC electro-mechanical equipment. The technician plays an important role in maintaining the quality of work in the service center.

Position Summary

The Electro-Mechanical Rewind Technician assists in preparing and rewinding various electro-mechanical equipment under the guidance of a supervisor or a senior-level Winder “A.” The role involves cleaning, handling tools, and completing physical tasks as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow written work instructions and adhere to customer requirements
• Support senior technicians in the preparation of motors for rewinding
• Operate a wide range of repair and testing tools such as winding machines, surge testers, core-loss testers, burnout ovens, grinders, etc.
• Gather required data, clean and repair motor iron, and prepare insulation materials
• Strip wire, fabricate coils, operate ovens, and perform core testing
• Assist in dismantling and stripping non-functional electro-mechanical equipment
• Understand and reference work instructions and job cards
• Accurately document time spent on jobs and capture relevant technical details
• Operate forklifts (must be certified) and follow all safety protocols
• Keep a clean, organized, and hazard-free workspace
• Ensure all finished work aligns with EMC’s strict quality standards

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 2 years of experience as an apprentice motor winder
• Self-motivated and able to maintain strong working relationships
• Intermediate mechanical skills and solid hand-eye coordination
• Foundational knowledge of motor components and electrical theory
• Able to interpret basic schematics
• Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators
• Experienced with surge and megger testers
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs and regularly perform physical labor
• Must be able to reach overhead and adjust focus as needed for tasks
• Strong interpersonal skills, team mindset, and the ability to clearly communicate in English
