Security Guard

This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Opening and closing dates: 06/23/2025 to 08/22/2025

Salary: $36,103 - $65,904 per year

Pay scale & grade: GS 3 - 6

Location: 10 vacancies in Pearl Harbor, HI

This position is not remote or telework eligible. Travel may be required 25% or less.

The position is permanent, full-time, and competitive with a promotion potential of 6. It is a noncritical-sensitive (NCS)/moderate risk position requiring a secret security clearance.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.

A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.

This position requires rotating shift work and often requires irregular hours. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements.

You must be a US citizen, determined suitable for federal employment, and participate in the direct deposit pay program.

New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.

Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.

You must successfully complete/pass required CNIC directed Navy Security Forces Training Course, as well as reoccurring training requirements.

This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.

You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.

You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

For GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Authenticating identification for access to restricted areas; 2) Regulating pedestrian and vehicular traffic to maintain traffic flow and security operations; 3) Granting or denying personnel access into restricted areas; and 4) Performing private and commercial vehicle inspections and package inspections following prescribed procedures to ensure only authorized property is brought into or removed from facilities.

For GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Screening and/or inspecting personal and commercial vehicles requesting installation access; 2) Controlling personnel access by verifying identification/credentials; 3) Patrolling buildings or perimeters for suspicious activity; and 4) Maintaining desk logs, desk journals, and pass-down logbooks to document security events.

For GS-04: Your resume must demonstrate at least 6 months of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-03 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Screening and/or inspecting personal and commercial vehicles requesting installation access; 2) Controlling personnel access by verifying identification/credentials; 3) Patrolling buildings or perimeters for suspicious activity; and 4) Maintaining desk logs, desk journals, and pass-down logbooks to document security events. Your resume must also demonstrate at least 6 months of general experience in one or more of the following areas: administrative, technical, clerical, military, or other work that involved following written procedures, rules, or regulations in contacts with coworkers, supervisors, or members of the public to provide a service, respond to inquiries, or obtain information.

Successfully completed study at an accredited college or university in any subject is fully qualifying in the amount and level specified below: GS-03: 1 year above high school GS-04: 2 years above high school
