Job Summary

The Senior Director, Global Security, COE is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the global security strategy, ensuring industry-leading standards across all data centers, and enabling customer trust in Equinix’s security platform. As part of the AMER Operations leadership team, this role influences enterprise-wide collaboration and innovation in physical security. This leader plays a crucial role in fostering trust and engagement among key stakeholders, customers, and investors, while remaining responsive to an ever-evolving business landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Global Security Strategy: Define, champion, and execute a long-term vision for physical security across 240+ data centers, ensuring alignment with business growth and customer needs

  • Standards & Governance: Establish, enforce, and continuously improve global security standards, policies, and controls that meet or exceed industry best practices

  • Innovation & Technology Adoption: Lead the evaluation and integration of new security technologies, architecture patterns, and service models to enhance resilience, cost-effectiveness, and scalability

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with peers in Cybersecurity, Risk, Data Center Operations, Design & Construction, Procurement, and Sales to deliver unified and future-ready solutions.

  • Operational Excellence: Oversee global security operations, ensuring consistent performance, timely project delivery, and measurable improvements in efficiency and risk reduction

  • Change & Transformation: Lead the organization through complex change, building clarity in ambiguous situations and aligning teams to long-term security objectives

  • Customer Advocacy: Act as a trusted advisor for internal and external customers, representing Equinix’s security capabilities with credibility and confidence

  • Risk Anticipation & Response: Monitor global security threats, anticipate risks, and deploy proactive solutions to safeguard people, assets, and data centers worldwide

  • People Leadership & Development: Recruit, develop, and retain top talent across geographies, fostering a high-performance culture of accountability, innovation, and inclusion

  • CSR & Sustainability Alignment: Ensure global security practices support Equinix’s Corporate Social Responsibility goals and sustainability commitments

Qualifications

  • Demonstrate strategic leadership experience in the technology sector, with a strong ability to drive vision and operational excellence

  • 15+ years of progressive global leadership in physical security, risk management, or related fields

Deep knowledge of:

  • Threat analysis, intelligence, and hunting

  • Vulnerability assessments and mitigation

  • Security monitoring, compliance, and auditing

  • Physical, virtualized, and cloud-based security services

  • Demonstrated ability to design/refine global standards, policies, and processes

  • Strong experience balancing regional nuances with global consistency

  • Proven record of managing large-scale security projects and programs across multiple geographies

  • Skilled in analyzing security data and metrics for executive decision-making

  • Adept at driving innovation in security systems, architecture patterns, and new technologies

  • Experienced in leading teams through organizational change and complex environments

  • Track record of talent development, mentoring, and building globally diverse teams

  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, matrixed, and international business environments

The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:

United States - Dallas Infomart Office DAI : 200,000 - 300,000 USD / Annual

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location. The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.

The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
