The Sr. Director, Marketing & Special Events is responsible for the development and implementation of comprehensive strategic marketing plans for the Georgia Tech Athletic Association. This role will enhance marketing, promotional, fan experience, and sales efforts while leading innovative and collaborative efforts to engage the students, staff, alumni, supporters, and prospective fans. This position will report directly to the Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing & Fan Experience and oversee the Director of Marketing & Fan Experience, the Assistant Director of Marketing & Fan Experience, and multiple post-grade/student interns. Additional responsibilities include the development, management, and overall operation of special events at Bobby Dodd Stadium and associated event space. Job Responsibilities Manage football & men's basketball in-game production. Lead external (pregame/non-gameday) events production and activation (Block Party, Fan Day, House Party, etc.). Build community group affinity via programmatic buildout and execution via curation, promotion, and execution of non-gameday and off-site community events. Work with marketing staff to plan and implement a broad range of publications, special events and marketing communications activities that contribute toward a positive image and reputation for the Athletics Department. Manage and direct all event-related logistics, including managing the events calendar, conducting walk-thrus and stadium visits, and being the primary contact for vendors and clients. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Educational Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Management, Communications, Public Relations, or Sports Management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Required Experience Four or more years of job-related experience - within intercollegiate athletics department or professional sports organization Preferred Educational Qualifications Master's Degree in Marketing Preferred Experience Six or more years of experience in athletic marketing and promotions environment at the Division I level. Experience serving the needs of diverse populations. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Abilities This position requires lifting, pushing, or pulling 25 lbs or more of promotion material as needed. The ability to work in outdoor venues occasionally. Knowledge Administrative skills and the ability to motivate staff and volunteers to achieve department goals Event and game management experience.
