Somali Operational Language Analyst (OLA) – Native CTC Group is seeking Somali Operational Language Analysts – Native Capability, levels 1–4, to provide native language and cultural expertise while performing tasks required to process voice and/or graphic language materials in support of SIGINT Operations. Responsibilities Comprehend written and/or spoken material in Somali, including references and vocabulary related to common social situations and everyday life in countries where the language is widely spoken. Render the main points of straightforward, factual materials in Somali into English with a reasonable degree of accuracy. Comprehend written and/or spoken standard and substandard contemporary forms of Somali, including complex grammar and syntax. Comprehend material that includes idioms, colloquialisms, subtleties and nuances, emotions and attitudes. Produce accurate translations of complex material from Somali into idiomatic American English. Analyze and interpret language materials to identify relevant intelligence information. Render translations and/or transcripts based on straightforward, factual written and/or spoken material. Translate and transcribe complex and sophisticated written and/or spoken material. Gist complex and sophisticated written and/or spoken material. Perform quality‑control review of translations and transcripts of complex and sophisticated written and spoken material. Requirements Active TS/SCI with polygraph security clearance. One year experience typing on an English keyboard. Native Capability: learned Somali since birth and formally educated in Somali for a minimum of ten years in a country where Somali is an official, national or commonly spoken language (or fifteen years if language is not an official language). Qualifications – Level Level 1: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. ILR Skill Level 2 in audio translation and/or translation performance from Somali into standard American English. Level 2: Associate degree or two years experience performing translation (minimum ILR Level 3). ILR Skill Level 3 in audio translation and/or translation performance into standard American English. Level 3: Bachelor degree or four years experience performing translation (minimum ILR 3). ILR Skill Level 3 in audio translation and/or translation performance into idiomatic standard American English. Level 4: Bachelor degree or additional four years experience, total eight years experience performing translation (minimum ILR 3). Eight years full‑time experience with cryptologic operations performing language processing in Somali. Eight years with translational operations experience within the last four years. ILR Skill Level 3 in both audio translation and translation performance into idiomatic standard American English. Pay Information Estimated salary range: $80,000 – $190,000. Salary may vary based on location, experience, education and certifications.
