Job Description

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the School of Pharmacy, University of the Pacific, has an immediate opening for a Research Scientist in the laboratory of Dr. Miki Park. This position is available for a period of up to 2 years from the date of hire. The scientist will conduct contract research projects under the supervision of Dr. Park.

Essential Functions

  1. Perform in vitro drug metabolism and in vivo pharmacokinetic studies.
  2. Develop new synthetic organic chemistry routes for drug targeting and delivery.
  3. Perform quantitative blood sample analysis using HPLC and LCMS.
  4. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences obtained within the past 5 years.
  2. At least four years of experience in synthetic organic chemistry, biochemistry, drug metabolism, and pharmacokinetic studies.
  3. Minimum of one peer-reviewed publication as first author in an internationally recognized journal.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Extensive experience with in vitro drug metabolism and in vivo pharmacokinetic studies.
  2. Extensive experience with analytical chemistry methods (HPLC and LCMS).
  3. Experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
  4. Sensitivity and experience working with diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  5. Demonstrated commitment to social justice, equity, and inclusion in academic settings.
  6. Ability to incorporate culturally responsive practices into their work.

Work Schedule

Standard hours; additional hours may be required to meet deadlines. Work is performed in a laboratory environment.
